The focus of this course is the story of the American people from the period of colonization to the present day. Topics include: the establishment of European colonies, the United States as a new nation, the American Revolution, the Constitution, westward expansion, the American Civil War and Reconstruction, industrial and business developments, World War I, the New Deal, World War II, and the nation’s developing role in world affairs in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. This course meets the state requirements for graduation. A student is not eligible for credit recovery in this course unless the course is completed and the End of Course Assessment is taken.
