This is a college-level course designed for students with exceptional ability and motivation. A strong background in the basics of composition and literary analysis is necessary. Students focus on advanced composition and critical reading skills. They identify and practice rhetorical patterns and devices, persuasive and effective logic, and writing clear, well-developed compositions on a variety of topics. A more detailed course description is available online at apcentral.collegeboard.com. NOTES: Summer reading and writing assignments may be required for this course. Summer reading and writing assignments are posted on individual school websites. All students enrolled in this course must take the AP Language and Composition Exam in May. Students who choose to audit this course may elect to pay to take the AP Language Exam in May.
