This course is designed to challenge and enrich students beyond the traditional subject matter. Considerable outside reading is involved. It is designed for students with exceptional ability and for those who feel the need for an in depth study in U.S. Government. It will focus on five areas: the Constitution, the branches of government, political beliefs and behaviors, civil rights and liberties, political parties and interest groups, voting behavior and political systems. This course meets the state requirements for graduation. Students enrolled in this class are required to take the AP US Government Exam in May with the possibility of earning three hours of college credit.
