The focus of this course is the story of the American people from the period from before the arrival of the Europeans to the present day. Topics include: native populations, the establishment of European colonies, the United States as a new nation, the American Revolution, the Constitution, westward expansion, the American Civil War and Reconstruction, industrial and business developments, World War I, the New Deal, World War II, and the nation’s developing role in world affairs in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Extensive outside reading will be required. Students must take the AP US History exam in May with the possibility of earning six hours of college credit. A student is not eligible for credit recovery in this course unless the course is completed and the End of Course Assessment is taken.

NOTE: Students enrolled in this course are required to take the end of course exam which counts for 20% of the yearly average. Students will take both the EOC and the AP exams.
