Description: AP Chemistry is a college-level course that follows the general curriculum of freshman chemistry at most universities. Students will learn many chemical principles and problem solving techniques that will help to prepare them for more advanced science and engineering courses in college. The class relies heavily on the use of mathematics and it is recommended that students be enrolled in or have completed Honors Pre-Calculus. All students are required to take the AP Chemistry exam in May. This will provide an opportunity to potentially receive college credit for the class. AP Chemistry is usually taken in the junior or senior year.
